"Muncie's Home of the Old-Time Religion"

Pastor James C. Johnson

The Lord has blessed Pastor James Johnson and his wife, Britan, with 3 baby boys.  Marc, (5) Andrew, (4) and Matthew (2) each add their own unique flair to the Johnson household.

After attending Bob Jones University and Pensacola Christian College for undergraduate courses, Pastor Johnson completed his formal education at Indiana Baptist College from where he received his degree.  Later, he was licensed to preach at Faith Baptist Church in Avon Indiana by Dr. Marc Monte, and ordained at Lighthouse Baptist Church of Indianapolis under Pastor Dan Tidd.

In May of 2000 the Lord called the Johnson family to serve at Good News Ministries in Indianapolis.  James would be used as the Director of Youth Ministries and the Business Manager; while Britan would serve as the Clinic Receptionist for the Good Samaritan Health Clinic.  Britan ministered there until the Lord began to bless their family with children.  James served at GNM until April of 2008.

While working at Good News Ministries, the Lord allowed Pastor Johnson to also serve as the Youth Pastor at Grace Baptist Church in New Castle Indiana, where he was privileged to be mentored by Pastor Denny Neal for two-and-a-half-years.

Pastor Johnson was voted in as the Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in February of 2008 and the church membership is thrilled and excited to see what God is going to do at Temple Baptist.  Please pray that God will protect our Pastor and his family and that God would use him to meet the needs of our church family and the lost world around us.

The Salvation Testimony of Pastor James C. Johnson

Sitting on a park bench at my elementary school at the curious age of nine, I pondered my eternal destiny. I was studying space and it was my assignment to memorize the planets in order from the sun. Amazed by the mystery and complexity of outer space, I asked my mother, "who put the planets in the sky?" My mother used my inquiry to lead me to Christ!  She explained that because of my sin, I deserved hell and that by believing that Jesus died for me and through His perfect blood sacrifice, I could be saved if I confessed my sin and called upon Him.

After completing the sixth grade in a public school, at the age of 12, my mother was concerned about the ungodly influences a secular high school would present. She began searching for an affordable, Christian school education. It was then that God led me to Calvary Baptist High School where I was mentored and my ministry training began. At a large youth conference God called me to preach.  Since then, I have surrendered myself to accomplish His will for my life. God has blessed me with a lovely wife, and 3 baby boys. I praise God daily for using His methods to mold me to be more like Him. Praise the Lord with us for how great God is!

SALVATION TESTIMONY

As an eight-year-old boy, I remember the excitement of hearing my mom and dad say, “Aaron, we’re going to go to a new church this Sunday morning.” Mom had been questioning some of the practices of the Roman Catholic Church because she could not find any Biblical precept for them. So dad, a saved man, told her that we should attend the local Baptist church, Faith Baptist Church in Belleville, IL, so she could hear the truth preached straight from the Bible. I attended the 3rd and 4th grade boys Junior Church – Bro. Harriston’s class.

There he taught a lesson on Acts 26:28 and King Agrippa’s response to Paul’s bold testimony. Acts 26:28, “Then Agrippa said unto Paul, almost thou persaudest me to be a Christian.” After teaching the lesson, Bro Harriston said that in God’s eyes, almost isn’t good enough: almost to heaven is still all the way in hell. I then realized that I was a sinner who deserved Hell and I needed to trust Christ to save me. I raised my hand at the invitation; Bro. Jay Cook took me into a back room, showed me the plan of salvation, and there I trusted Christ to save me. And, praise God, my mother received Christ the very next Sunday.
